Plainly, and before anything else: Kangaroo Island Tours may earn a commission when you book through a link on this site, at no extra cost to you.

What that means in practice

The tours listed here are sold through Viator. When you follow a link from one of these pages and go on to book, the platform pays us a share of its own commission. You pay the same fare either way; the price on the booking page is the operator’s price, not a marked-up one.

What we are not

We are not a tour operator. We do not run any of these tours, employ any of these guides or hold your booking. Your contract is with the operator, through the platform.

We have no connection with the National Parks and Wildlife Service South Australia, Kangaroo Island Tourism, SeaLink or any tour operator.

How tours get listed

Operators cannot pay for placement, position or a badge. A badge on a card is a measured claim: Top rated only on a tour rated 4.9 or higher, Best seller only on the tour with the most reviews, Best value only on the cheapest. Where a platform prints its own badge on a product that does not meet our test, it is dropped rather than relayed, and a badge naming the platform is never shown at all.

The featured tours at the top of the homepage are three different purchases from three different starting points: a small-group full day by 4WD from an island hotel, an overnight trip that starts in Adelaide, and a quad bike tour at Vivonne Bay.

Prices, ratings and how current they are

Prices, star ratings and review counts belong to the operators and were taken from their own listings on 24 September 2026. They move, and the figure at checkout is the one that counts. Every fare is quoted in US dollars because that is the currency the listings were captured in, and every fare is per person. Fares are truncated to the whole dollar, the way the listings display them.

The parks’ own charges — the Flinders Chase entry fee and the Kangaroo Island Tour Pass — are quoted in Australian dollars, as the parks service publishes them, and never converted at an exchange rate. The facts about the island are Kangaroo Island Tourism’s and the parks service’s: the crossing, the size of the island, the biosecurity rules, Seal Bay’s hours and alert, and Flinders Chase’s fee and boardwalks. The climate figures are the Bureau of Meteorology’s means for Kingscote.

What we deliberately do not publish

• A ticket price for the island. There is none. You pay for the crossing, a tour and the park entries.
• A walk on the beach at Seal Bay. The parks service has paused beach access. Several listings still describe one, and we print the boardwalk instead.
• SeaLink fares and sailing times. They are the ferry’s to set and change, so we give the crossing time and send you to book on its own site.
• A Seal Bay single-entry price, and single prices for Kelly Hill, Cape Borda and Cape Willoughby. They were not on the official pages we read, so the pages say where you pay.
• A settled ferry arrangement where a listing contradicts itself. One overnight trip starts in Adelaide yet says ferry tickets are not included; we say confirm it when you book.
• “Small group” without a number. A card says small group only where the listing states the cap.
• A minimum age a listing does not state. Where a listing is silent, we say so rather than guess.
